Jose is Back in Elkhart for a Court Hearing
February 10, 2016 — Jose Quiroz has been transported back to Elkhart County so he can attend a court hearing tomorrow.
Records from the Elkhart County Sheriff Department show that Jose is currently being housed in their Elkhart facility.
Court records indicate that there will be a hearing on Thursday February 11, 2016 at 8:30am before Judge Terry Shewmaker.
Jose Quiroz is currently serving 45 years in prison for felony murder. He accepted a plea deal while Blake Layman, Levi Sparks and Anthony Sharp went to trial. After conviction Blake, Levi and Anthony appealed their convictions to the Indiana Supreme Court and won. They were re-sentenced and Levi Sparks has already been released from prison.
We hope that the movement of Jose Quiroz to Elkhart County is a sign that this injustice is about to be corrected and Jose will be sentenced according to the law — a law which states he did not commit felony murder.
We will be following this breaking news closely over the next few days.
